Chapter 13

Ace was beyond disrespectful. Kandy didn't bother getting back in the pool, she just sat on a pool chair.

"What's wrong, Kandy?" Jasmine asked as she swam over to the edge of the pool.

"Nothing."

"Are you sure."

"Yeah."

"Well come get back in the pool then."

"I will, give me a second."

"Aight."

Kandy hated that she cared what Ace was doing but she had to keep reminding herself that he was not her man, and that she would be getting away from him very soon. She almost wanted to go look for him but didn't feel like dealing with the drama. It wasn't worth it. Looking up, she saw the guy that got in the pool at the same time as Ramel, sitting at the edge of the pool. He was smiling, and holding his hand out to her. Kandy smiled at him, stood up, and took his hand. He helped lower her into the pool by picking her up by her waist.

"Thank you."

"Looks like you could use a hand."

"Yeah."

"What's your name?"

"Kandy."

"Nice."

Kandy finally got a good look at him and noticed how handsome he was. He was a couple inches taller than her with light skin. His eyes appeared to be hazel, his hair was fine, and curly which he had lined up perfectly faded around the edges.

"You don't care to know what my name is?"

"What's your name?"

"Ryan."

"It's nice to meet you Ryan."

"You as well beautiful."

Kandy smiled at him but that was gone as soon as she noticed Ramel mean mugging her again.

"So your here with that nigga Ace?"

"Yeah unfortunately."

"Don't pay that man no mind, and definitely don't let him steal that beautiful smile."

"I'll try my best."

"You should, you are too pretty to be frowning."

"Thank you,” she said as she continued to stare at Ramel. "Would you excuse me real quick Ryan? I will be right back."

"Okay I'll be waiting."

Kandy didn't respond as she swam away from him and over to Ramel.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" she questioned Ramel.

"No reason."

"Seriously Mel?"

"Yep."

Kandy chuckled while shaking her head, she didn’t know what was wrong with these niggas, but they were going to have to leave her alone.

"I don't have time for this bullshit," as she swam off.

Ramel grabbed her arm stopping her from moving away from him.

"Let go of my arm Mel."

"My bad I'm tripping for no reason."

"Yeah, you are. This is the second time that you have looked at me stupid."

"I know man my bad."

"ALL OF THE LADIES THAT KNOW HOW TO TWERK THAT ASS NEED TO MAKE THEIR WAY UP HERE RIGHT NOW," the DJ yelled through the microphone.

"Oh shit; they’re giving away five thousand as the cash prize to the winner," Jasmine said.

"So? You spend that in one shopping trip," Mike said.

"Ramel, you wouldn't mind if I entered it, would you?" Mia asked as she looked at him.

"Nah, go ahead and have fun."

"Kandy, let's go do it," Jasmine said.

"Don't even think about it," Ramel whispered in her ear causing chills to ease up her spine.

"Kandy," Jasmine called her name again as she eased out the pool.
